I have been excited to share these images since I found them earlier this year – 1960’s New Year postcards by Russian artist, Vladimir Zarubin. I am totally smitten with Zarubin’s delightful images of sweet and adorable animals and children set in nature.
Zarubin was a commercial artist and animator but master of the postcard – leaving behind a large catalog of joyful images such as these. Postcards and greeting cards carried significant social and cultural importance throughout the 20th century in Russia – often a gift in and of itself, cards were saved for recollection or fabricated into items, such as keepsake boxes or decorative balls.
Wishing everyone all the best for this new year!
